Joint plan policies

By virtue of their joint plan, and in compliance with the Loi sur la mise en marché, maple syrup producers can control the production and marketing of their products.

In order to come into effect, a joint plan policy that has been adopted by producers must be submitted to the Régie des marchés agricoles. The latter can then hold a public hearing or proceed as it deems appropriate in order to ensure that the policy is lawful. The Régie may decide to modify a join plan policy. Once it has approved a policy, the Régie then publishes it in its “Gazette officielle du Québec”. From this date (or from the date specified in the policy), all those concerned must abide by the policy as they would by any other policy adopted by the State.
